Sewer pipes or rainwater pipes can become clogged. There are various reasons for this. Wastewater conveyed in the pipes can cause sedimentation and eventually partial or a complete blockage. A broken pipe can also cause a blockage, for example due to sagged pipes or crushed sealing rings that reduce the pipe cross-section and prevent unhindered drainage. In the kitchen area, drain lines are often clogged by grease, food residue or lime scale. In the bathroom, it is deposits and residues of wet wipes, toilet paper, hair, lime scale and urine scale. To loosen these deposits, the pipe cleaning machine is used.

In case of light blockages, pipe cleaning can be performed with the drain cleaning pump.

Drain Cleaning with coils on a Floor Drain

The first step is to remove the stainless steel grate and then the dry odor trap from the floor drain. After selecting the appropriate pipe cleaning machine with a suitable coil and drill head, drain cleaning is started. It is very important that the drain cleaning machine has a firm and safe stand. For good handling, a distance of 20 - 30 cm between the pipe opening and the pipe cleaning machine is recommended. The pipe cleaning machine works with a right/left rotation. The coil is extended or pushed into the pipe until resistance is felt in the pipe. To loosen the blockage, the coil is rotated back and forth (right/left rotation).

If the coil cannot be pushed further at one point and there is probably no blockage here, it is helpful to let the coil rotate. This may be the case, for example, if several bends are installed one after the other in the pipeline. As soon as the blockage is removed, the pipe should be flushed to determine whether the blockage has been completely removed. Otherwise, the waste water will accumulate in the pipeline again.

If the water runs off, a camera inspection, e.g. with the Wöhler VIS 350 universal camera, is carried out. This makes it easy to document the cleaning success, as well as damage and leaks.

In addition, the Wöhler L 200 Locator can be used to precisely locate the camera head in the pipeline. The Locator detects the camera head with the aid of radio waves, even through the base plate. Thus, in the event of damage, it can then be opened precisely and without extensive destruction.
