Using an inspection camera it is possible to quickly display the insides of a flue gas system in good quality. An easily operable, portable video inspection camera simplifies the inspection process via the chimney stack enormously.

A handy and portable video inspection camera is a great help for the inspection through the chimney.

When carrying out a visual inspection of a flue gas system, particular attention should be paid to ensuring the operator has a firm foothold and his movements are not restricted when inspecting the chimney stack while standing on the top of the roof. An easy to handle video inspection camera is ideal to guarantee these conditions are met. It is recommended to use an inspection camera with a pan & tilt color camera head to examine the insides of a flue gas system (chimney stack or flue gas line) in as much detail as possible.

Performing camera inspections of chimney stacks from on top of the roof

Beginning at the chimney outlet, the inspection is carried out by lowering a camera cable connected to the monitor into the flue gas system. Alternatively, when using a modular camera inspection system it is possible to deploy a camera viper to visually inspect the flue gas system beginning at a service panel (base of the chimney/attic).

A pan & tilt color camera head makes it possible to localize defects or old connection openings far more easily. Meter / feet markings or a digital distance counter on the camera viper simplify pinpointing damage when inspecting chimney stacks with a video camera.

To be able to better document the work on a rooftop and to show the customer the insides of his flue gas system, it is possible to record and save the camera's journey through the pipework to an SD card. An integrated voice recording function is a good method to quickly and simply document possible defects and other important data. The videos including the voice recordings can then be saved on a PC for further processing or documentation purposes. Commented video imagery simplifies subsequent analysis and assigning the recordings to the respective customer.

Summary:

  • An easily operable and portable video inspection camera is ideal for inspecting chimney stacks from the roof
  • A digital distance counter displayed on the camera monitor is designed to localize damage
  • Voice and image documentation of the camera inspection simplify subsequent processing
