The CO as well as the CO2 content in the room air can lead to a lack of concentration, tiredness, headaches and even death. CO is produced, for example, by insufficient combustion in a heating system and can enter the room in the case of exhaust gas backflow. It is also contained in car exhaust gases and tobacco smoke.
Performing a co measurement (ambient air)
An indoor air quality meter is required to measure CO in the ambient air. For long-term monitoring of the ambient air, the IAQ meter can record not only CO but also CO2, temperature and humidity values. The data logger function stores the CO measurements in the desired time period and can be evaluated with a PC software.
During the calibration phase of the indoor air quality meter, the fresh air must be absolutely free of CO concentrations. For example, even after a longer smoking break, the breathing air of a smoker contains up to 10 ppm CO. If "zeroing" was carried out with this concentration during the calibration phase, the measuring device would be 10 ppm "less CO-sensitive".
After calibration, the currently measured CO value can be read on the display.
For the CO-measurement you can set a CO-alarm limit, which indicates the exceeding acoustically by an alarm tone.
